October Athlete of the Month: Adam Lawrence

Since joining NoCoast in June 2025, Adam has made showing up a habit and that consistency has made a big impact. From throwing some weight around to tackling those dreaded bodyweight movements, Adam brings a great attitude to every class. What started with the welcoming noon crew and coaches has become a regular part of his life, giving him more energy, new goals to chase, and an opportunity to show his kids what it looks like to set goals and work toward them.
Thank you Adam for your hard work and dedication to NoCoast!
Age: 37
Athletic/Sports history/highlights:
In high school I ran cross country and played lacrosse. After college I ran a few sprint triathlons while living in Chicago.
How long have you been at NoCoast?
Since June 2025
How did you get into fitness/exercise?
Growing up it was always a part of my life. I played youth sports and my family prioritized outdoor activity (Skiing, biking, etc).
What is your favorite workout or movement?
I love squats and power cleans the most but pretty much any movement with a barbell. Throwing some weight around is always fun!
What is your least favorite workout or movement?
Push ups and pull ups. The bodyweight exercises are always the toughest for me.
What is your most memorable NoCoast moment?
I don't have a specific moment, but really just reflecting back on how welcoming everyone was when I started. The noon class crew and coaches are what kept me coming back day after day until it became second nature.
How does nutrition play a role in your fitness and recovery?
Nutrition is the most elusive part of the equation for me, but I find the more I work out the more motivated I am to eat better. I try to prioritize protein and veggies and the rest seems to fall in line.
How has NoCoast/Training improved your overall wellness?
I find it super helpful to just be able to show up and have programmed workouts set for me. I love the variety of the workouts and I would not work nearly as hard if it wasn't in a class setting.
How has NoCoast (your dedication to health and fitness) changed your family?
I have a lot more energy and my kids get to see me set goals and reach them.
Advice to new people:
Show up to class as much as you possibly can. For me, planning mentally to come every day helps out when I inevitably have days when I can't get away for an hour to come to class.
